Next Year's plans

I have a place on a secondary SCITT PGCE for next year.

I have an interview for an art therapy masters in June so might last minute decide to switch to that.

I hope to keep working with Z-Arts or somewhere similar if I move to Sheffield for the art therapy masters.

I will keep up my personal practice and maintain my network connections to keep forming new collectives and putting on more exhibitions. Discovering new things always.

Hacienda 2,
Time Machine Experience

This was a collaborative piece between myself and Alex Fletcher. We were hidden behind the wall photographed (fourth wall made of draped cloth) and controlled the contraptions we had built. Alex controlled the audio effects whilst I posted drawings and messages through the time machine 'from the past'. This was a really interesting way to interact with the audience and almost became a bit of a social experiment in itself.

It was a really popular attraction. We had only intended to be in there for half an hour, but we ended up staying in there for 4 hours which got really cramped but it was worth it. People kept queuing up.

Some people used it as a karaoke machine, whilst others engaged in philosophical conversation with 'the machine'. Some were shy but we could lure them in, others were rude and destructive.

As the night went on and people got more and more intoxicated, it got more and more surreal, with more and more extreme reactions and lots of laughter. It certainly gave people something to think about.

Hacienda 2,
Jerusalem, re-written

Participation in the exhibition: "I went on a dérive and ended up at Hacienda 2" at Antwerp Mansion with the West Art Collective x Tanith Mab and Preost.

This was experience of collaboration. Myself and 3 friends performed an SATB arrangement of the hymn Jerusalem, with lyrics adapted to commemorate the spiritual impact of the Hacienda scene. In the last verse we encouraged the whole audience to join in and it was a magical atmosphere.

Hacienda 2,
Lamp of Memories Manifest

Participation in the exhibition: "I went on a dérive and ended up at Hacienda 2" at Antwerp Mansion with the West Art Collective x Tanith Mab and Preost.

This was the first iteration of the Lamp that I ended up exhibiting in the degree show. It wasn't too successful as it was placed in a dark space (even though it was lit up). It was really hard to document because there were lots of intricate details and there was quite a lot of visual "noise".  The idea was how desires manifest into memories and how encouraging expression through places like the Hacienda was important in forming peoples lives, blooming like a flower. It was meant to be a memory tree, commemorating the Hacienda now that it is an apartment block, which was the theme of the exhibition.

It was really nice to apply my process to a new set of concepts.

It was a great place to network and discuss art and culture and make new connections. Experience of installing the show was useful for my degree show as I knew how to plan things best and gave me practice at considering a piece of work in space.

Z-Arts, leading a session
Assistant Facilitator Programme

I I introduced the idea of mark making in response to music to a class of 5-7 year olds. We did this through Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals and through a slow step by step introduction to the concept. Here is the one example I managed to get a picture of - all us adults were busy assisting and leading and the children then took their work home.

They absolutely loved the session and were amazed by the close listening that I introduced incrementally, eventually building up to 5 minute intervals.

The learning outcomes of this were: improved concentration and observational skills. Grounding through the senses after a long day at school. Linking movement, sound and visuals as interlinked forms of expressions. Improved listening skills.

Assistant Facilitator Programme

helping with art and dance classes - here are some pictures of children's work from some workshops I have been an assistant in. Not only has this been great work experience, but it has given me space to understand how different audiences (children and children with parents) respond to different creative inputs and artworks. This has been useful for my practice and also my career prospects

Pro Corda, Chamber Music Courses
Assitant Matron/Pastoral Staff, August 2023

Working with Pro Corda gave me great insights into arts education, a career I am wanting to go into. I have a place on a SCITT PGCE next year and that is super exciting to me.

visiting a tile making studio with PARALAB

feb 2024

Through networking, I got to meet people working on a project in collaboration with Paralab, Manchester. An organisation that seeks to unite scientists and artists to work together. This was super inspirational and something I would love to participate in one day. The only pictures I have are from my instagram story, so excuse the silly captions.
